5 Benefits of Robotic Surgery for Improved Patient Outcomes

5 Benefits of Robotic Surgery for Improved Patient Outcomes

Robotic surgery not only offers your surgeon the ability to easily access your surgical site with small incisions, but the procedure offers many benefits for patients.

Dr. Aliu O. Sanni is our expert bariatric and general surgeon at Eastside Bariatric & General Surgery in Snellville, Georgia. Dr. Sanni is trained in the da Vinci™ robotic surgical system. You can rely on his expertise and years of experience as a robotic surgery specialist.

How robotic surgery works

Robotic surgery offers one of the most innovative ways to perform procedures, benefiting both surgeons and patients.

Conventional open surgery requires large incisions that put you at risk for complications and usually require a long recovery. Robotic surgery offers something very different.

Here at Eastside Bariatric & General Surgery, Dr. Sanni can make very small incisions using the da Vinci system.

We know that the word “robotic” might sound like a robot is in control of your surgery, but that’s not the case. Dr. Sanni is in full control of the procedure. The system simply allows him to use robotic arms to perform the procedure with impeccable precision.

Once he makes a very small incision, he inserts miniature medical instruments in addition to a high-definition three-dimensional camera that allows him to see inside your body. He then watches a monitor that receives the signal from the camera and shows him the details of the surgical site.

As he moves his arms, the robotic arms mimic his movements, giving him the ability to manipulate the instruments with precise movements, maintaining full control at all times. He and our surgical team also monitor you throughout the entire procedure.

Why have robotic surgery

We use robotic surgery to deliver the highest level of care and to perform procedures in hard-to-reach areas. Robotic surgery can be the best option for such surgeries as gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, removal of the gallbladder or appendix, or treatment of benign and malignant cancers.

When you visit our office, we discuss your surgical options and determine if robotic surgery is right for you.

How robotic surgery can benefit you

Robotic surgery has become a popular choice because of what it offers compared to traditional techniques — enhanced precision, flexibility, and control. The camera also magnifies the surgery site, giving Dr. Sanni and our surgical team superior visibility and clarity.

This minimally invasive surgery provides many benefits for patients, including:

As a surgeon, Dr. Sanni’s advantages include an enhanced view of the surgical site, greater precision, and excellent dexterity.

Robotic surgery is a win-win for both the surgeon and the patient. You can rely on Dr. Sanni to confidently perform your surgery and provide a successful outcome.
